I am so excited to begin this new Ladies Bible Study of Pursuing Godliness through 1 Timothy!

Now, before my male readers go, “Yuck! Ladies Bible Study cooties!” I want to express that I am of the opinion that  women should not teach men. However, as Beth Moore and Kay Arthur express when they begin a study, I want to praise any men who CHOOSE to read through this and even pick up their Bibles to learn. Not only will the Word of God richly bless you, but you might be able to have some fantastic conversations with your wife!

With that said, if you are choosing to join me on this quest for godliness, let me explain a few things.

1) I am NO Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, or Elizabeth George (NOT the novelist of the same name!). To me, they are mentors and godly women I love to learn from, but I do not even want to claim that I am in their same field of expertise because I am not. I am a woman who loves to study the Bible, maybe teach it a little, and have people join me along the way.

2) I love to mark up my Bible. I figure if it’s the road map and text book for my life, then I need to study it and make notes so I have them when I need them. Some people don’t like to write in their Bibles and that’s fine. But I will be telling you words and phrases that we will search for and mark that will help you understand the text better as God teaches you. I keep a cup of highlighters, colored pencils and pens next to me as I study.

3) Understand that the devil doesn’t like it when God’s people study the scriptures. You watch! Especially if this kind of study is a first for you. You will find that distractions and busyness will begin to creep into your time if you aren’t careful. I also find that my kids decide to act up, the phone will ring, and frustrations begin to mount as I study the Word. Remember that our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities of darkness. Make sure you have your armor on!

4) PRAY. I’ll be praying for you. Please pray for me and each other. I have no idea what God has in store with this study, but I do know He will move if we allow Him to. He will take His children on an incredible journey of discovering Who the God of the universe really is.

If you have chosen to join me, I am grateful for your companionship!

Are you ready to see what lessons God has for you?
