My morning devotion was just too good not to pass on. Here are a few excerpts from Quiet Moments for Homeschool Mom and Dads by Vicki Brady. But this is for ALL moms, not just homeschool moms. And you dads out there, please pass along the encouragement to the love of your life. 🙂

“Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord” 2 Chronicles 27:1-2

If we look closely at the book of 2 Chronicles, which records biographical information about the kings of Israel and Judah, there appears to be a connection between the number of kings who “did right in the eyes of the Lord” and the influence their mothers had in their lives. Of the nine kings who did what was “right in the eyes of the Lord,” six mention the king’s mother. Of the eight who were wicked, only one mother’s name is given.

Hang in there moms!! We have strength in the Lord who GAVE us our kids!!

Raising children is not an exact science. There is no guarantee that our children will choose to serve the Lord, but there are some things we can do to influence them in that direction…On days when you begin to wonder if you are spinning your wheels with your children, keep in mind people like Jerusha and Jotham. Scripture records both their names, which tells me God thought they were both very important. Similarly, He has chosen you to be the mother of your children. It is your touch that they need in their lives.
