For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11

pray for the future

The future. It can be scary. It’s the unknown. But we serve a mighty God who was the same yesterday, today, and is the same tomorrow. That should bring us hope.

And hope is what our kids need.

We live in a world where hopelessness reigns. People are tired, depressed, and seem to have no purpose. This is why it is important that our children know they have purpose with a Christian worldview, and that they serve a mighty King who cares about them. Our kids can be different than the world because they have HOPE!

Our kids can have hope in a future. Not one here on the earth, although that is part of it, but a future that is eternal. This is a future that we need to share with others as we spread the gospel.

What to Pray for the Future

  1. Pray for a clean heart. Psalm 51:10
  2. Pray God’s promises.
  3. Forgiveness is huge. With forgiveness one can live a guiltless life knowing that Jesus placed all those yucky sins upon himself. With forgiveness we can live a life in the fullness of joy and peace knowing our personal worth in Christ.
  4. Pray for a future spouse and family.
  5. Pray to stay strong in the Lord when facing future temptations and the courage to run away from evil.
  6. Have your child pray for guidance for how he will work in the kingdom. {Job, Missionary, Service, etc.}
  7. Lead your children to pray for the souls they will influence so that future souls will be won.
  8. Thank God for a heavenly home.

Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed. ~ 1 Timothy 6:18-19

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7-9
